The Royal Medical Services has launched the latest NAEOTOM Alpha PCCT scanner at Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre. This state-of-the-art technology is the first of its kind in the Middle East and positions the military hospital systems of the Bahrain Defense Force among the most advanced medical centers regionally and internationally.

The NAEOTOM Alpha PCCT scanner demonstrates exceptional diagnostic accuracy and detail while minimizing radiation exposure and contrast agent use. It enables non-invasive diagnosis of heart disease without catheterization, reducing the need for interventional procedures and facilitating timely and effective treatment decisions.

This technology significantly improves the detection and monitoring of coronary artery disease and imaging of congenital heart disease in both children and adults. The scanner can image calcified arteries, even those with stents, without surgical intervention, enhancing patient safety and optimizing the use of catheterization laboratory resources for essential therapeutic procedures rather than diagnostic ones.

Additionally, the PCCT scanner excels in neurological diagnostics, offering unparalleled spatial accuracy to detect cerebral vasoconstriction and assess the integrity of brain stents, thereby accurately visualizing the details of brain blood vessels.
