Repair an Aortic Aneurysm

The cardiovascular surgery team at the Royal Medical Services – Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre performed a distinctive medical procedure on a patient in his early sixties to repair an aortic aneurysm.
The operation is performed in a hybrid operating theatre using fluoroscopy, under the supervision of a group of specialists headed by Dr. Husam Abdulaziz Noor, Chief of Medical Staff (Clinical Services) and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at MKCC, Col. Dr. Dhafer Kamal, Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, and Prof. Martin Maresch, Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at the Military hospital.
The operation, which lasted about three hours, is carried out by implanting the prosthesis according to a detailed plan. It was done entirely percutaneously, indicating that there is no need for a scalpel or cutdown since it was necessary to preserve all patent branches in an active patient. The entire reconstruction consisted of seven different parts that required meticulous precision during the assembly.
The procedure was successful, and the patient was discharged the next day in an excellent condition.
