Dr. Omar Sharif

Consultant Gastroenterology Chief of Medical Staff MD, MSc (Healthcare Management).

Dr. Omar Sharif earned his medical degree from the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. He completed his medical training and the American Board in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, USA, and continued with a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the same institution. Dr. Omar practiced as a consultant gastroenterologist in Arizona, USA, for two years before joining King Hamad Hospital in 2014. He has held positions as Head of the Internal Medicine Department and Head of Training, and he is currently the Chief of Medical Staff. He also holds a master’s degree in hospital management from RCSI-Bahrain and serves as a senior medical lecturer at RCSI–Medical University of Bahrain. With 18 years of medical experience in the United States and Bahrain, including 10 years with the Royal Medical Services, Dr. Omar played a crucial role in the national COVID-19 response and contributed to establishing the National Program for Colon Cancer Screening. He is a member of multiple governmental and hospital committees.
