Bahrain Oncology Center
Diabetics
The Oncology Clinical Dietetics Unit was established in April 2020 to support patients in making sure that their nutritional goals are met. By assessing and identifying patients at high risk of malnutrition and significant weight loss, the dieticians help ease the treatment side effects and improve the patients’ overall quality of life.

The Oncology Clinical Dietetics Unit also inaugurated its Public and Private clinics for Dietetics to serve the ambulatory oncology patients.

Patient Wellbeing
Cancer and its treatment can evoke a wide range of emotions shock, anxiety, fear, feeling overwhelmed, guilt, loneliness and depressed mood affecting patient’s and family’s mental health.
Pharmaceutical Services Department
Bahrain Oncology Centre pharmacy started with providing service for 5 patients in 2017 and expanded to serve 2052 patients receiving chemotherapy prepared by the BOC pharmacy in 2020. It continues to grow in paralel to the expansion of services at the BOC.
Nursing
Nursing department is central to the care in all departments at the BOC. In order to ensure that Bahrain Oncology Center patients have quick and easy access to their care team, dedicated hotlines were made available for medical oncology and hematology clinics, in addition to a dedicated patient relations hotline.
Medical Oncology
Medical Oncology is a discipline that is concerned with every stage of treatment; from screening and early diagnosis, to care and treatment of oncology patients.
Day Case Unit
Drug treatments for cancer is often delivered on a day case outpatient basisPatients come to the hospital, their medical tests are checked, potential risks of toxicity are assessed and treatment is delivered.
Hematology & Bone Marrow Transplantation
The Hematology Department provides services for the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and simultaneously runs the bone marrow transplantation services.
Cell Therapy Unit (Apheresis Unit)
The Apheresis Unit at the Bahrain Oncology Center opened in 2020. It offers various treatments, with plasma exchange transfusions making up 61% of the procedures and collecting a patient’s own stem cells for future use accounting for 32%.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy is an integral part of multimodality cancer treatment, treating areas affected with cancer using ionizing radiation. Radiotherapy treatment involves series of fractionated treatments, often extending over several weeks, using highly sophisticated equipment.
Palliative Care & Pain Management
The Department of Oncology Palliative Care & Pain Management was established in early 2020 to provide supportive care to oncology patients.
Surgical Oncology
Surgical oncology is a specialized field dedicated to the surgical management of cancer. At our center, we provide comprehensive surgical oncology services aimed at diagnosing, staging, and treating various types of cancers, with a focus on breast cancer, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and acute surgical emergencies.
Pediatric Oncology
Pediatric hematology and Oncologyis dedicated to excellence in patient care, research and education in this field. Our focuses is to improve lives of children with cancer and blood disorder, advance discovery through research, and train the leaders in future.
Infection Prevention and Control
The Infection and Prevention Control (IPC) Unit continuously monitors the hospital for hospital and community acquired infections and act proactively to control them.
National Tumor Board
Decreed by the Supreme Council of Health in March 2018, the National Tumor Board (NTB) is a professional platform for clinicians to discuss and derive the most appropriate and personalized treatment plan for each patient diagnosed with or suspected to have cancer in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Medical Genetics
The service of Genetic Counselling and Cancer Genetic Screening was established at Bahrain Oncology Center in August 2020. The clinic has seen a steady influx of patients, uncovering the degree of patients positive for cancer-associated mutations.
